La Fundación Astier Centro San José es un centro con una identidad cristiana enriquecida con el carisma y la espiritualidad propias de la Congregación de las Hermanas Mercedarias de la Caridad.
Esto nos hace tremendamente singulares frente a otros centros, tanto a nivel local como nacional.
En nuestra propuesta pastoral trabajamos para crear las condiciones que posibiliten el encuentro personal, tanto de las residentes como de los trabajadores, con Jesús.
Desde el centro, nos proponemos acercar los valores humanos y cristianos a la vida diaria, para poder así descubrir la riqueza que constituye nuestro ser y poder contagiarlo a nuestro entorno.
Trabajar el mundo interior de cada persona, participar en la oración y en las celebraciones litúrgicas, profundizar en el mensaje del Evangelio, en el sentido profundo de los Sacramentos o colaborar en las actividades propuestas desde el Departamento.
Son algunas de las estrategias destinadas a favorecer la inquietud, la apertura a la trascendencia y el compromiso personal con uno mismo y con los demás desde el Evangelio.
Desde 1913 son las Hermanas Mercedarias de la Caridad las que, haciendo vida el carisma legado por su fundador, el Beato Zegrí, se hace cargo de esta obra social que es, actualmente, la Fundación Astier Centro San José.
Juan Nepomuceno Zegrí y Moreno es el fundador de la Congregación de las Hermanas Mercedarias de la Caridad.
Nació en Granada, el 11 de octubre de 1831, en el seno de una familia cristiana. Sus valores humanos y evangélicos le otorgaron una elegancia natural y una capacidad de relación entrañable y cercana para con todos.
Impactado por los problemas sociales y por las necesidades de los más desfavorecidos, se sintió llamado, también, a fundar una congregación religiosa para liberar a los seres humanos de sus esclavitudes. La funda bajo la protección e inspiración de María de la Merced, en Málaga, el 16 de marzo de 1878.
Hijo fiel de la Iglesia, y bajo el signo de la obediencia de la fe, como entrega de una vida, muere un 17 de marzo de 1905 en la ciudad de Málaga, solo y abandonado, como él había decidido morir; a ejemplo del Crucificado, fijos los ojos en el autor y consumador de nuestra fe.
Como hombre, fue íntegro, equilibrado y coherente, responsable y decidido, abierto siempre a la vida. Buen comunicador y amigo de sus amigos. Como cristiano, fiel a la fidelidad que Dios le había revelado en el Misterio Pascual de Su Hijo, con quien le configuró, llegando a sufrir un verdadero martirio del corazón. Como fundador, fue aquel que supo dar la vida por su obra, en silencio y soledad, en un desierto no deseado pero amado, desde el que introdujo a toda la Congregación en un camino de Comunión como signo de fidelidad al Evangelio y al carisma recibido del Espíritu.
El sueño más acariciado por él, que fue también el carisma que recibió como don, para bien de la Iglesia y de la comunidad humana, fue:
“Curar todas las llagas, remediar todos los males, calmar todos los pesares, desterrar todas las necesidades, enjugar todas las lágrimas, no dejar si posible fuera en todo el mundo un solo ser abandonado, afligido, desamparado, sin educación religiosa y sin recursos.”
Soñaba como Jesús, poder pasar haciendo el bien a la humanidad, en Dios, por Dios y para Dios, dejándose interpelar por las necesidades de los más pobres, de quienes deseaba ser su providencia visible.
Vivió e hizo suyas todas las virtudes cristianas de manera heroica, sobre todo la FE, la ESPERANZA y la CARIDAD, así como todas aquellas virtudes humanas que dan elegancia a la caridad y la hacen entrañable en las relaciones.
La Iglesia reconoció estas virtudes heroicas proclamándolo Venerable el día 21 de diciembre de 2001. Juan Nepomuceno Zegrí y Moreno, bendiciendo a las Hermanas Mercedarias con el don de la caridad redentora, ha ido dejando, con ellas, semillas de amor redentor y de liberación en los surcos del mundo.
Su beatificación, el 9 de noviembre de 2003, nos introduce a todos en la Merced de Dios, en ese espacio de gratuidad en la que Dios es jaris permanente, gracia liberada y redención de todo lo que oprime a los hombres y mujeres de hoy.
Desde 1913 son las Hermanas Mercedarias de la Caridad las que, haciendo vida el carisma legado por su fundador, el Beato Zegrí, se hace cargo de esta obra social que es, actualmente, la Fundación Astier Centro San José.
Juan Nepomuceno Zegrí y Moreno, padre fundador de la Congregación, elaboró una rica espiritualidad, firmemente sostenida por tres pilares:
- LA CARIDAD REDENTORA, para hacer beneficios a la humanidad y servir a los pobres el Evangelio del amor y de la ternura de Dios.
- EL AMOR Y LA ENTREGA A JESUCRISTO REDENTOR en su Misterio Pascual, para asociarnos a su obra redentora, por su cuerpo que es la Iglesia.
- EL AMOR A MARÍA DE LA MERCED, con la que hacemos el camino de discipulado, mirándonos en Ella como paradigma de la mujer nueva al servicio del Reino.
Nuestra identidad mercedaria parte de una llamada concreta a vivir el Evangelio siendo MERCED, es decir, siendo “regalo para otros”. Así, nuestro mayor reto es no sólo transmitir, sino vivir nuestra identidad en los tiempos de hoy.
Debemos tener presente en nuestro día a día las palabras de nuestro fundador, el Padre Zegrí:
“Curar todas las llagas, remediar todos los males, calmar todos los pesares, desterrar todas las necesidades, enjugar todas las lágrimas, no dejar si posible fuera en todo el mundo un solo ser abandonado, afligido, desamparado, sin educación religiosa y sin recursos.”
